Reflections and testimonies from those who have attended Dr. Yeunhee Chang's lectures in person. Rooted in over two decades of theological research and translation work, Dr. Chang's teaching has helped many encounter the authentic identity and voice of Holy Mother Han for the first time. Here, attendees share how her lectures moved, challenged, and transformed their understanding.
Thank you for all your research and investment into understanding Mother. Not only is it great to hear your research, I really appreciate hearing your personal encounters with Mother. Those personal experiences provide a fuller picture of who Mother is, someone most people won't/didn't get to know. When you told us about how True Mother asked you if your parents are still following her, it shocked me that Mother has to even ask such questions. I felt a lot of pain because Mother asking that question must mean that she doesn't know whom she can trust. It makes me think, "How did it get to the point where Mother has to ask such painful questions?" Ultimately, it seems like there's so much about Mother that I still don't know. Thank you again for shining light into True Mother's thoughts, character, and vision. I'm excited for your book to come out soon and will be praying for everything to go smoothly! Hope to see you do a tour in the US soon as well.

I attended both the first and second lecture series in LA. After the first time, I needed a while to process everything. The initial shock of learning about the early days of our church left me feeling like I had been kept in the dark my whole life. If something this significant had been hidden, I found myself questioning what else might be. It was a disorienting place to be. During that time, I went through real doubt — about the Blessing, about True Parents [Holy Mother Han and Reverend Moon], about many things I had taken for granted. I had always seen True Father [Reverend Moon] and True Mother [Holy Mother Han] as the standard of love, and learning that good intentions do not excuse harmful actions shook that image. It was hard. Coming for a second time, I was hoping to gain clarity — and I did. I came to better understand why this content is being shared: to own up to the pain and confusion that faulty theology caused, and to help correct a path that has delayed God's dream. I also came to understand more clearly what True Mother [Holy Mother Han] is actually calling us to — not getting caught up in all the confusion, but focusing on becoming genuinely caring and loving people who attend Heavenly Parent as filial children. That gives me something real and practical to hold onto. It felt like something I could actually work toward, instead of getting lost in teachings I couldn't fully make sense of. Even though I am still working through many questions and uncertainties, I feel that what is being shared is necessary and important. I am grateful for the hard work Dr. Chang is doing to bring True Mother's [Holy Mother Han's] heart to light. Thank you. — Y.A.B.

To give some context, I have been on a personal truth-seeking journey over the past year. During my time in GPA, I genuinely tried to build a relationship with God and with True Parents [Holy Mother Han and Reverend Moon], but I often felt like I was forcing it rather than experiencing something real. Over time, I began to question a lot — about faith, sincerity, and what truly matters in a spiritual life. Going into the lectures, I carried a lot of internal conflict, especially around True Father [Reverend Moon]. Growing up, I often felt a sense of pressure or guilt tied to his suffering and sacrifices, and I struggled to reconcile that with my own feelings and questions. Because of that, I never allowed myself to fully question things openly. The lectures were impactful for me because they brought clarity and, honestly, a sense of relief. Hearing a more transparent perspective helped me release some of that internal pressure and allowed me to look at things more honestly — without feeling like I had to force belief or suppress questions. That shift alone was very meaningful for me. The talks also opened space for me to reflect more deeply on True Mother [Holy Mother Han]. I realized I still have much to learn about her. For me, it is important not to simply replace one belief with another without understanding it more deeply. At the same time, I feel a growing sense of curiosity and appreciation for what is being shared about her life and course — especially knowing that much of it has not been clearly or accurately passed down. Overall, the lectures felt like an important step in my journey. They helped me in my search for truth, and I am truly grateful for the courage it takes to present these perspectives. The timing felt meaningful, and I hope to continue learning. Thank you for reading my reflection. Wishing you and your family all the best. — A.C.

I believe Dr. Chang serves an important role in this providence of bringing Holy Mother Han to the world. She is both a great orator and thinker, while carrying a genuineness of heart that allows True Mother's [Holy Mother Han's] words to shine through. Thank you. The greatest value of the content is the access it gives us to True Mother's [Holy Mother Han's] own words. Even just one translated speech brought me so much closer to her in a whole new way. The personal experiences Dr. Chang has had with True Mother [Holy Mother Han] directly — and the stories she shared — helped me grow closer to her. I could feel that unanimously from everyone gathered. One realization that stood out to me was understanding what it truly means to pray in attendance to Holy Mother Han. I came to understand that because it was True Mother [Holy Mother Han] alone who opened the gates of Cheon Il Guk, and since it was her from the beginning who should have stood at the center of the providence, drawing close to her brings us to a higher place with our Heavenly Parent. That was eye-opening and a point of deep repentance for me. I also came to a deeper understanding of the children of Holy Mother Han — particularly how much pain they carried witnessing what their mother endured. Putting those pieces together for the first time helped me feel a greater compassion for them, and made their own struggles make so much more sense. Another point that resonated with me deeply was reflecting on second generation members who quietly stepped away, sensing that something was wrong. I have always felt that before we could bring anyone back, we needed to first clean our house. What we decide is right or wrong shapes our culture and how we treat people. I am hopeful and excited about what it means to build that culture around what True Mother [Holy Mother Han] has actually called us to. God bless you, Dr. Chang. — J.H.

Although much of the content was familiar from the first time I heard it, coming back a second time allowed me to go deeper. I came away with a richer understanding, and certain points landed with even greater weight than before. What I appreciated most was the unwavering commitment to sharing the truth fully and without softening it. My takeaway was clear: we need to be informed, not protected. When we shroud the truth for the sake of making it more palatable, we give power to shame. We need to own the mistakes and the difficult parts and face them head-on — because without that, we cannot heal. I say this also from my perspective as a trauma-informed therapist. Overall, I am so grateful for Dr. Chang, her team, and everything they are striving to do for True Mother [Holy Mother Han] and the rest of us. I would gladly hear this content again, and I look forward to continuing to engage with it. Thank you so much. — M.T.

Thank you for taking the time to come all the way to LA. I know it's not easy to take time away from family to share this content. The content helped me understand the difficult circumstances that True Mother [Holy Mother Han] has had to face, and the opposition she has encountered. I appreciated the emphasis on how important it is to have a personal and spiritual experience with True Mother [Holy Mother Han]. Your presentation helped me understand why some first generation members struggled to accept what True Mother [Holy Mother Han] was sharing. I don't want to blame those leaders, but rather do my best during my own time with True Mother [Holy Mother Han] now. I don't want to be stuck in the past. I always need to keep growing, praying, and learning. I also appreciated all your personal testimonies with True Mother [Holy Mother Han]. It was heartwarming to hear them. There is always so much more going on than what we see on the surface. It made me think about how I need to continue doing my best to support True Mother [Holy Mother Han] in my responsibilities. Thank you again for sharing. — J.K.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share everything — your research, your heart, and your incredibly valuable and unique experiences. Your visit was so timely for me. In short, what you shared has made everything make so much more sense. I have had many questions that I don't think I ever fully put into words — vague feelings that something just didn't seem right. Those feelings have now been answered. More than anything, your talks have been the catalyst for me finally developing a personal connection to True Mother [Holy Mother Han]. My relationship with True Parents [Holy Mother Han and Reverend Moon] had always been one of respect — I saw them as people of integrity and purpose. But I never had an emotional or spiritual connection. Learning the truth about what True Mother [Holy Mother Han] has endured, combined with all your personal stories and testimonies about your own experiences with her, has almost instantly created the personal connection I was never sure I'd be able to have. Today was the day I finally began to recognize True Mother [Holy Mother Han] as the Only Begotten Daughter not just intellectually — that part always made sense — but with my heart and spirit. A part of me had been looking for reasons to leave because it is so messy, and so much damage has been done. But after this weekend, despite seeing difficult truths — or perhaps because of it — rather than being pushed away, I feel even more strongly connected to Heavenly Parent and True Mother [Holy Mother Han]. Understanding what happened has allowed me to resonate with her more deeply, not less. More than disappointment or unease, I feel relief and clarity. True Mother [Holy Mother Han] is the Only Begotten Daughter, and she is the blueprint. Thank you. I think you changed my life. — M.

Thank you for conveying the heart of True Mother [Holy Mother Han] that lay deep within the hidden history of our church. I am a second generation member who was raised during the period when True Mother [Holy Mother Han] began to take leadership in our movement. Naturally, I always felt a deeper love and admiration toward her. However, when opportunities to see True Mother [Holy Mother Han] in person came to a halt, I began to feel a block — questioning whether she truly felt anything toward the rest of us. One moment I clearly remember was when I first deeply understood the pain of True Mother's [Holy Mother Han's] heart. I remember crying for three days straight, sobbing every time I read her words or tried to convey them to someone else. During this gathering, however, something struck me that I had never considered before — that True Mother [Holy Mother Han], as the Only Begotten Daughter, did not have to endure the suffering she went through. I had never questioned whether she was required to suffer. In that moment I felt deep repentance for not realizing sooner that her suffering was not a requirement, but the result of ignorance. During this gathering, I heard certain truths for the first time that brought a lot of pain. And yet, knowing that True Mother [Holy Mother Han] was hurt most by the person she loved most, I was able to recognize an even deeper love she carries for him. Her love is beyond human emotion, and that is why she is truly the Only Begotten Daughter. Through this gathering, I feel so grateful to now have an even stronger conviction in my faith — one I hope to carry forward and share with future generations who will not be able to grow in the same timeline she has lived. — R.H.

I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I was invited, but I'm so glad I went. I feel like God guided me to this opportunity to better understand True Mother [Holy Mother Han], her heart, and the truth about this movement's past. Even though I've heard that True Mother [Holy Mother Han] is the Only Begotten Daughter, I feel like it never truly clicked just how important she is to Heavenly Parent, humankind, and the world. There will ever only be one Only Begotten Daughter, and we were chosen to be alive on this earth at the same time as her. Growing up, I lived a pretty sheltered life. Even though I had heard some rumors about our church, I never really believed they were true. I mostly had blind faith and didn't question much. So hearing about what True Mother [Holy Mother Han] had to endure really broke my heart. It opened my eyes to see that True Father [Reverend Moon] was also a human being with flaws who could make mistakes. I have a much greater appreciation for True Mother [Holy Mother Han] for everything she has gone through and continues to do for Heavenly Parent and humanity. It is easier for me to extend forgiveness toward True Father [Reverend Moon] when I reflect on how True Mother [Holy Mother Han] herself has forgiven him and how much she loves him. I have more empathy for the children of Holy Mother Han knowing how much they had to go through. I truly hope and pray that all of them will come back and support our True Mother [Holy Mother Han]. I am grateful to Dr. Chang for coming all the way to share her heart and knowledge with us. Even though the topics were hard and heavy, she relayed everything with compassion and empathy. — E.K.

It is unreal that a week has passed since our meeting. A lot has happened since then. The first very obvious change was the lightness I felt in my spirit. Thank you for empowering me and helping clear my spirit. As we were leaving, someone remarked that it felt like we had been somewhere beyond ordinary life and were now returning to the real world. Disorienting, yet oddly clear in mind. We do not know how we will share what we experienced with our families and friends, but we know it needs to happen. What we learned, felt, and experienced that weekend must be protected and acted upon. We were so grateful. We were so bright. And with each wave of emotions, we stayed grounded and continued to receive what was being shared with us. Dr. Chang is a filial daughter of True Parents [Holy Mother Han and Reverend Moon]. She was a moving, living example of a Blessed Child — in words, in heart, and in spirit; and to me, an educator, a respectable and compassionate older sister with a big heart. I think the reason why we could navigate the content so well was because it was something we have all been waiting for. Our spirit knew something was off, and we were getting by in life by the grace of God and True Mother's [Holy Mother Han's] presence on Earth. I was so proud of everyone in that room. Amidst all the turmoil our movement has gone through, we have prevailed this far. I felt so, so fortunate. We cried, we got sad, we were shocked, and we were educated. After the weekend, I felt my spirit become much lighter — an experience I can only compare to how Christians feel after hearing the Good News. There is hope for the world. The world is going to be okay. — S.

First of all, I want to express my gratitude for everything you've done, and particularly this past weekend. Nothing about it was necessarily easy to hear — except for your many personal stories and experiences and your own testimony — but I felt it was absolutely necessary. I came away with a completely different understanding of True Mother [Holy Mother Han]. I feel like a few more layers of her deep and complicated heart have been revealed to me, bringing me closer and deepening my relationship with her. It's hard to explain in words, but "Only Begotten Daughter" carries a significantly different weight in my heart than it did before. What you taught me last weekend has genuinely changed the trajectory of my relationship with True Mother [Holy Mother Han] for the rest of my life. I feel like what was once growing stagnant has shifted — and I am forever grateful for that. I'm still processing everything. But prayer has been good. — D.C.

Thank you so much for the lectures. One big emotion I felt was shock. I was always naive and believed what I was told about True Parents [Holy Mother Han and Reverend Moon]. When people I was witnessing to questioned me about controversies surrounding True Father [Reverend Moon], I always defended him. I believed the rumors were false — so I was hurt and felt a sense of betrayal when I learned they were true. But more than that, I finally feel like I can see the magnitude of what True Mother [Holy Mother Han] went through. I once told someone close to me that I didn't think I could ever forgive certain things — that I would be too hurt. But True Mother [Holy Mother Han] forgave. Not only that, but she loved and united and continued leading a global movement. That, as Dr. Chang said, is not humanly possible. It is unimaginable. And it has made True Mother's [Holy Mother Han's] identity and proclamation so much more real to me. I never doubted it, but it is so much clearer now. I have a greater gratitude, love, and respect for her than ever before. She is the role model I want to follow. Every day this past week, I thought about what I heard. I started remembering the unanswered questions I had pushed to the back of my heart, and the anxiety I used to feel when people would challenge me. I used to be so afraid. But now I don't feel afraid or anxious. Actually, I feel a sense of relief — relief that I can love True Father [Reverend Moon] for the life he truly led and speak honestly about it. Thank you for bringing light to this truth. — A.H.

I want to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to hear this content. I hope to see you again soon. The lectures gave me even more confidence in my belief in True Mother [Holy Mother Han] as the Only Begotten Daughter of God. She is pure and sincere in everything she does. While some of what was shared was shocking, it only deepened my conviction and love for her — and almost made it impossible for me to carry anger or negativity in my own heart, because of how she herself has responded to everything she endured. I cannot agree with certain things from the past, and I would never say they were right. But I also do not want to discredit the work and sacrifices that were made for the world. After hearing this content, I feel I must remind myself of everything True Mother [Holy Mother Han] accomplished — and I feel she needs us more than ever. The lectures also gave a very realistic and human side to the children of Holy Mother Han that I had only been exposed to a fraction of before. It made me reflect on second generation members I know who grew distant from the movement — and I found myself wondering how they might feel if they could hear this content presented with such compassion, respect, and logic. I cannot be grateful enough for content delivered in such a digestible, logical, and straightforward way. I hope many more people can hear what you have to say. — S.A.

Thank you for coming all the way to share this content with us. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I am really glad that I joined. The way the content was structured was necessary — it laid the foundation for the heavier material. The distinction between faith and belief really stayed with me: our beliefs can change, and sometimes new truths hurt and are hard to accept. Although the content was filled with heartbreaking truths, it was somehow easier to digest because of how you presented it. You didn't just give us the truth — you put it into perspective so we could see the whole picture. I don't think I could have arrived at forgiveness without the compassion and context you brought to everything you shared. I think it is really important to see the mistakes of the past, because without doing so we can never learn from them. When I heard about all the things that have been done to cover the truth in our movement, I lost trust in the system. But at the same time I felt so much hope knowing that someone like Dr. Chang is out there fighting for our dear True Mother [Holy Mother Han] — sharing that she loves and needs us more than ever. I would love to work on my Korean so that I can hear True Mother's [Holy Mother Han's] words directly and feel what she is trying to express. Thank you so much. We love you! — H.K.

I was very hesitant to join because I was already wavering in my association with the church. I was just overwhelmed with everything our movement is going through that I felt numb every time I thought about it. I didn't want to confront certain realities. I'm realizing with my counselor that I am a very avoidant person and when I'm overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions, I feel numb. I knew this gathering was going to be overwhelming. What I really appreciated was how the content was structured — the earlier sessions gave us so much thoughtful preparation and reminded us of why we need to grow as a movement. Without that foundation, I would have shut down and not wanted to listen to another word. From the Q&A session, I recognized that this is a new era, and True Mother [Holy Mother Han] wants us to focus on our relationship with Heavenly Parent. Being in leadership positions before, I was so used to a spirit of intense urgency — I only felt like I was contributing if I lived up to that intensity. But this is a new era. Right now my capacity is to wake up, make my bed, dress up nicely, and try my best to be True Mother's [Holy Mother Han's] representative in my day-to-day life — and that is not anything less. True Mother [Holy Mother Han] and Heavenly Parent love me and are proud of me. Thank you for a needed weekend. — J.v.G.

Dr. Chang, Thank you for teaching us more deeply about the Only Begotten Daughter of God, True Mother (Hak Ja Han). I really appreciate the time and care you put into sharing this with us. During the lecture, we learned about True Mother's untold story — the suffering she endured that has yet to be shared with many members of the church. While some may not be ready to hear it, this is a story that needs to be told to everyone eventually. Keeping it from people will only create a divide between those who know the truth and those who don't — or who refuse to accept it. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Yeunhee Chang for her courage in opening our eyes to who True Mother really is. This could not have been easy, yet she stepped forward anyway. For me personally, it was truly eye-opening. I had held a blind belief for so long. As second-generation members, we need to know where we came from, where we are going, and what is happening within our movement. I also won't pretend the lecture didn't stir mixed feelings in me. Deep down, I had always sensed that something was missing — that our leaders had not told us everything. While it was difficult to hear, it also made sense. It confirmed something I had already felt but couldn't name. Over the two days of lectures, we covered the difference between faith and belief, key events within FFWPU between 2012 and 2013, the theological understanding of True Mother before and after that period, the significance of the Holy Marriage and how it has been distorted, what it means to be a filial child, and True Mother's own spiritual journey. It was a great deal to take in, but every topic deepened our understanding of our movement and our faith. The truth is never easy to accept. But as second-generation members, with the spiritual understanding we carry, we are ready for it. And it is through this truth that I have felt drawn closer to True Mother and closer to Heavenly Parents. Hearing about the suffering she endured over more than thirty years was humbling. Only True Mother could carry that kind of heart, patience, and forgiveness. It is unimaginable. True Mother's proclamation that she is the Only Begotten Daughter is something that, even today, many members struggle to accept. For so long, the focus has been on True Father — and rightly so. But we must also come to understand True Mother's journey. The suffering she endured is what shaped her into who she is, and it is precisely that suffering which grounds her proclamation. This is our moment. True Mother still has a mission to fulfill — for our movement, for humanity, for God. There are those who oppose her, who seek to silence her proclamation. But we must stand with her. We must unite, support her work, and help her accomplish what she came to do. That is the call of this hour. I want to work hard and stand united with True Mother. She has vital work for our movement and for humanity. I want to be the needle she is looking for. I want to be one heart with True Mother, standing with her. J.I.K & M.A
