About Holy Mother Han

Dr. Hak Ja Han: The Only Begotten Daughter of God

Born on February 6, 1943, in the small village of Anju-gun, North Korea, Dr. Hak Ja Han has risen to become a figure of profound spiritual significance for millions around the world. Known globally as the “True Mother,” she has devoted her life to revealing her role and mission as the “Only Begotten Daughter of God.” Hers is a story of divine purpose, unwavering love, patience, and faith.

From her earliest years, Dr. Han felt a deep connection to God — whom she teaches is humanity’s Heavenly Parent. She recounts: “I was born and grew up in God’s presence as His Only Begotten Daughter. I could see the reality of the spiritual world from an early age, and I was always conscious of God’s presence.” This unique spiritual sensitivity would shape not only her own destiny, but the future of the church movement and the millions across many religious traditions who were prepared to receive her message.

On April 15, 1960, at the age of 17, Dr. Han’s life took a momentous turn when she married Reverend Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the Unification Movement, in a ceremony known as the “Marriage Supper of the Lamb.” She teaches that this union fulfilled biblical prophecy and marked the beginning of a new era in human history — one rooted in God’s original plan for humanity and the restoration of God as our Heavenly Parent.

Dr. Han understands her role as the Only Begotten Daughter of God: a female counterpart to Jesus, whom she recognizes as the Only Begotten Son of God. She believes she was prepared by Heaven to complete the work of building God’s home on earth — continuing the mission begun through Jesus Christ — by establishing a culture of Hyojeong, or filial love toward Heaven. This culture of heart, she teaches, has the power to move people toward lasting harmony and peace, awakening humanity to its identity as brothers and sisters — one extended family with God as our shared Heavenly Parent. This way of life has become fundamental to the teachings of the Heavenly Parent Holy Community (also known as the Unification Church and the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification).

Central to Dr. Han’s mission is the establishment of Cheon Il Guk — God’s heavenly kingdom on earth. A cornerstone of this work has been her officiation of the movement’s mass “Marriage Blessing Ceremonies,” which have united hundreds to thousands of couples simultaneously since the 1960s. Through these blessings, she teaches, participants are engrafted into God’s eternal family.

Dr. Han’s life and teachings offer a singular perspective on spirituality, family, and humanity’s relationship with the Divine. While her understanding of her own identity and role is new and at times controversial — even among those who have followed her for decades — she has never understood her mission as belonging to one group or organization alone. She comes, she says, for all the world’s people.

In January 2025, Dr. Han took a further step in articulating her identity, conferring upon herself a newly appointed title: Holy Mother Han. This title cannot be fully grasped through doctrine or declaration alone — it can only be understood through a careful and sincere study of her life, her sacrifices, and the path she has walked across more than eight decades of providential history.

She teaches that all religions have traveled on different buses, but have now arrived at the same final stop — including her own church movement. People from both the spiritual and physical worlds, prepared throughout millennia, will now step off their respective buses and meet together. United by a common goal, they will work to heal this world through the outpouring of God’s love.
